Kids Get a Taste of Entrepreneurship on Lemonade Day
Recently, nearly 160 young entrepreneurs took part in Lemonade Day, gaining hands-on experience in what it takes to start, own, and operate their own small business.
Part of a larger statewide initiative, Lemonade Day gives children the opportunity to learn valuable life skills—like financial responsibility, goal setting, and customer service—through the simple, yet powerful experience of running a lemonade stand.
In Terrebonne, Lafourche, Pointe Coupee, and East Baton Rouge Parishes, the event takes on a special local flavor, thanks to the support of community partners including Synergy Bank, Raising Cane’s, Rouses Market, Terrebonne Parish Library System, Lafourche Parish Library, and the Pointe Coupee Chamber of Commerce.
Each participant received a Lemonade Day Kit filled with tools to help them succeed, from aprons and supplies to a step-by-step guide that walks them through planning, budgeting, and running their stand. Throughout the day, children proudly served customers, managed money, and experienced the rewards of their hard work—many for the very first time.
While prizes and recognition added to the excitement, the true highlight of the day was seeing young participants build confidence, practice independence, and discover what they’re capable of achieving. From creatively decorated stands to enthusiastic customer interactions, each stand reflected the personality, effort, and entrepreneurial spirit of its owners.
“Running a lemonade stand is more than just a fun activity—it helps kids learn financial responsibility and nurtures the next generation of entrepreneurs, community leaders, and engaged citizens,” said Jerry Ledet, President and CEO of Synergy Bank. “We’re proud to support such a wonderful and impactful event in our community.”
In the Capital Region, the Best Decorated Stand award went to Eli and Adley White of “A & E’s Sponge Lemonade,” while Jasper Hendon, Sebastian Hendon, and Hayes Detiller of “It’s Lemonade, Bruh!” won in the Bayou Region.
