Synergy Bank, United Way for South Louisiana, and H.O.P.E. Ministry of Pointe Coupee hosted our annual school supply drive benefiting local students in need. With the help of the community, thousands of school supply items were donated to local school districts.

“Synergy Bank is proud to join fellow community-minded businesses and organizations in supporting local students and families,” said Jerry Ledet, President and CEO of Synergy Bank. “Access to basic school supplies can make a meaningful difference in a child’s education. We are honored to help provide these essential resources and grateful to see this initiative continue to grow and impact more students each year.”

Throughout the month of July, community members and businesses collected school supplies for the drive. At the end of July, Synergy Bank, United Way, and HOPE Ministry of Pointe Coupee representatives traveled by school bus to each drop-off location to “pack the bus” with the donated supplies. Supplies were then sorted, divided equally, and delivered to Terrebonne Parish School District,  Lafourche Parish School District, and Pointe Coupee Parish School District. Collected supplies included notebooks, paper, pencils, pens, highlighters, markers, crayons, backpacks, glue sticks, erasers, folders, binders, lunch boxes, and much more.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to this year’s Pack the Bus school supply drive,” said United Way Executive Director Alina Merlos. “These donations do more than fill backpacks, they help give students the confidence and resources they need to succeed in the classroom. The generosity of our community makes a meaningful difference in the lives of local children and families.”

Cindy O’Meara, H.O.P.E. Ministry of Pointe Coupee Advisory Board Member and Volunteer, added: “Having spent many years in education, I know that having school supplies can make a tremendous difference in a student’s confidence and readiness to learn. We are thankful for the continued support of Synergy Bank and our community, whose generosity makes this meaningful initiative possible.”
